Questions

Do I need to be in shape or have experience?

No. Most of our students, kids and adults, walked in with no experience. Classes are built for beginners, and we meet you where you are.

Will I or my kid get hurt?

We train safely. Jiu jitsu has no punches or kicks, and live rolling is optional while you learn. Kids are paired by age and experience, and coaches watch every drill. The number one rule on our mats is "take care of your partner."

Is there an age limit?

Kids can start at 4, and they train in age groups. Adults of all ages are welcome, and our oldest student is in his late 50s.

Will there be other women in class?

Yes. There are always women in our regular adult classes, so you'll have plenty of women to train with at most experience levels. We also have a women only class every Saturday.

What happens at the first class?

You'll meet your coach, warm up, learn some techniques, then do controlled training with a partner. Parents are welcome to watch kids classes, and most do. After class, you decide if you want to come back. No pressure.

What should I wear?

A t-shirt and shorts or sweats, and bring water. No shoes on the mat. If you want to try a gi (the jiu jitsu uniform), you can borrow one of ours.

Will the schedule work for me?

Adults have early morning, midday and evening classes. Kids have 16 classes a week, most of them on weekday afternoons. You'll see every class time when you book.

What if I don't like it?

That's fine. The free class is there so you can find out first. If you join, there's no contract, and you can cancel anytime.
