Questions

Do I need to be in shape or have experience?

No. Most of our adult students walked in with no experience and all kinds of fitness levels. Classes are built for beginners, and we meet you where you are.

Will I get hurt?

We train safely. Live rolling is optional, especially in your first weeks. Most injuries in jiu jitsu come from ego or rushing, and we don't coach that way. The number one rule on our mats is "take care of your partner."

Am I too old to start?

No. Adults of all ages train here, and our oldest student is in his late 50s. You go at your own pace, and live rolling is optional while you learn.

Will there be other women in class?

Yes. There are always women in our regular adult classes, so you'll have plenty of women to train with at most experience levels. We also have a women only class every Saturday.

What happens at my first class?

You'll meet your coach, do about 10 minutes of warm ups, learn some techniques, then do controlled training with a helpful partner. After class, you decide if you want to come back. No pressure.

What should I wear?

A t-shirt and shorts, and bring water. No shoes on the mat. If you want to try a gi (the jiu jitsu uniform), you can borrow one of ours.

How often do I need to train?

Two or three times a week is enough to make real progress, and that's where most beginners start. We have early morning, midday and evening classes. You'll see every class time when you book.

What if I don't like it?

That's fine. The free class is there so you can find out first. If you join, there's no contract, and you can cancel anytime.

Come try a class. It's free.
